The New York Times is a daily newspaper that has been in circulation since 1851. It was started on the East Coast by Henry Jarvis Raymond and George Jones before they also create a West Coast based paper the Times of California which did not last. From the start they wrote about events and issues that were impacting people in the present, in 1952, for example, they published an exclusive eyewitness interview about the sinking of the trans-Atlantic steamer Arctic. They reported and continue to report about "hot" and controversial topics. The New York Times covered things like Lincoln's assassination and Winston Churchill's memoirs about World War 2. Today they report about things ranging from politics to natural disasters to fashion.
